Night-time Tranquility

I finally found peace in the middle of the night,
When all the world sleeps in the pale moonlight,
Though I know peaceful slumber will never touch me,
I am happy believing that it's meant to be.

It's a time when I can be on my own,
With no-one to shout and no-one to moan,
I can do what I want and no-one will care,
Take that from me, if you can - If you dare!

During sun-lit hours I will do as you say
and because of that you can ask what you may
but as soon as the sun slips out of view,
I do as I please and I forget about you.

I need my time when I am free of the chain
That Society uses to tie up my brain,
For if I didn't have that time just for me,
I would never be able to call myself free.
